tedros gujarat visit: WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus to be on three-day Gujarat visit from Monday

World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus will be on a three-day visit to Gujarat from Monday, during which he will participate in some programs with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, officials said.

Rajkot Collector Arun Mahesh Babu said on Sunday that the Ghebreyesus would reach Rajkot on April 18, where he would stay overnight before joining PM Modi on Tuesday in Jamnagar for the foundation stone-laying program of the WHO Global Center for Traditional Medicine (GCTM).

He said that GCTM will be the first and only global outpost center for traditional medicine across the world.

On Wednesday, the Ghebreyesus will be in Gandhinagar, where PM Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Global AYUSH Investment and Innovation Summit. About 90 eminent speakers and 100 exhibitors will participate in the three-day summit to be held at Mahatma Mandir, officials said.

The summit will help to uncover investment potential, and foster innovation, R&D and start-up ecosystem for the wellness industry. He said that it will help in bringing together industry leaders, academicians and scholars and will act as a platform for future collaborations.

Rajkot Mayor Pradeep Dao said Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth will also reach Rajkot on Monday, where he will be welcomed with cultural programs at the airport.

Dao said that many cultural programs have been organized in his honour.

On the way to his convoy, several hoardings have been put up with ‘Welcome to Gujarat’.
