praan funding: Deep-tech startup Praan bags funding from Climate Angels, Aera VC, and others

Mumbai: Deep-tech startup Prana has raised an undisclosed amount in a fresh round of funding from global investors Aira VC, angel investment syndication Climate Angels and Sequoia Scouts. Cool Climate Collective, film director Roshan Abbas and angel investor Akshat Rajan also participated in the round.

Climate angels include angel investors such as Vijay Shekhar Sharma (Paytm), Nipun Sawhney (Apollo Global Management) and Paula Mariwala (Seedfund Advisors). The Cool Climate Collective includes global angels from Tesla, Breakthrough Energy Ventures and others.

The fresh funds will be used to expand Pran’s Indian team, accelerate manufacturing and stabilize the supply chain. The latest fundraising is an extension of its $1.56 million round in January.

Founded in 2017 by Angad Daryani, Prana aims to reduce urban air pollution through low-cost, filter-less and artificial intelligence-based outdoor air purification systems. The startup has started pilots on a large scale in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi and Rajasthan. Its product is largely manufactured in Maharashtra and Gujarat.
