Noida airport: Rs 10 lakh per day fine if delayed, says UP minister

Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ on Friday said that the developer of the upcoming Noida International Airport will be fined Rs 10 lakh per day for delay in the completion of the project.

The greenfield airport is coming up in the Jewar area of ​​Gautam Buddh Nagar district in western Uttar Pradesh, about 70 km from Delhi, and developed by Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd (YIAPL), a special purpose vehicle of Switzerland-based subsidized Zurich International Airport AG. being done. ,

According to an official statement, the state industrial development minister issued instructions to senior officials of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) and Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) among other government agencies involved in the project.

“If the international airport is not ready in time, a fine at the rate of Rs 10 lakh per day will be imposed,” the minister said in a statement issued by his office.

Gupta was on a two-day visit to Noida and Greater Noida, where he reviewed the functioning of local authorities as well as YEIDA, which manages the development of the area along the 165-km-long Yamuna Expressway in western Uttar Pradesh.

During a meeting with YEDA and NIAL officials on Friday, the minister was informed that all the No Objection Certificates (NOCs) have been received for the airport, which will have a crane bird as its symbol.

Gupta, who was earlier the state civil aviation minister, was also informed that the airport would be constructed in four phases and an amount of Rs 4,200 crore was being spent during the first phase of the project, while the earlier estimated cost was approx. 4,200 crore was Rs. 5,600 crores.

According to the statement, he was informed that in future metro trains will also be run on the metro corridor of Yeda.

According to officials involved in the project, the first phase of the Noida International Airport is set to be completed with one runway by September 2024 and a capacity to handle 12 million passengers annually by then.

When completed, the airport is considered to be the largest airport in India. It will be spread over an area of ​​5,000 hectares. According to officials, the first phase will be spread over 1,300 hectares.
