The NCP, a constituent of the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in the state, of which the Congress is also a part, slammed MLA Rana for his announcement and accused him of doing so to destabilize the government and incite communal tension. Charged. state.

Rana, an independent MLA from Badnera in Amravati district, had extended his support to the Devendra Fadnavis-led BJP-Shiv Sena government in 2014-19.

To prevent any untoward incident, police made heavy arrangements at Thackeray’s residence in Kalanagar area as a large number of Shiv Sena supporters gathered outside the house, an official said.

A team led by DCP Manjunath Singe visited Rana’s residence and served him a notice under section 149 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) from Kherwadi police station. He said the couple took notice, which has been issued to prevent any cognizable offence.

The officer said that as per the notice, the police have requested them not to disturb the peace and maintain peace.

Shiv Sena leaders sitting outside Thackeray’s residence said the couple was not fit to take on the party and would be taught a lesson if they dared to come out of Matoshree.

Shiv Sena leaders accused Rana of working at the behest of the BJP.

“Mahaprasad is ready. Whatever comes, will get it,” Shiv Sena MP Vinayak Raut told reporters.

He described the Rana couple as ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ in reference to a Hindi film starring Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji.

Secretary of Yuva Sena, the youth wing of the party, Varun Sardesai, who sided with Raut, termed the couple’s announcement as a “stunt” and said party workers would not let them go back without ‘prasad’ (teaching them a lesson). . He dared to turn”.

Meanwhile, NCP’s state unit chief spokesperson Mahesh Taapse claimed that Rana was inspired by the ideology of the BJP and expressed confidence that the MVA government in the state cannot be destabilised.

He said that a public representative should work for the approval of development works for his constituency, district and state.

The NCP leader said the people of Maharashtra would have praised Rana if he had raised the issue of power shortage with the central government.

“Unfortunately, they are not raising these important issues. Maharashtra cannot be destabilized. The MVA government is strong,” he said.

Earlier, MLA Rana had asked CM Thackeray to recite devotional hymns at his residence on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti to be celebrated on April 16, which was criticized by Shiv Sena.
