KS Eshwarappa: Use speakers within mosques, loudspeakers outside disturb students, patients: K’taka Minister

Amid protests against the use of loudspeakers in mosques by some right-wing groups, senior Karnataka minister KS Eshwarappa on Monday said any solution can be found to the issue by taking the Muslim community into confidence keeping in mind the interests of students and patients. Is. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray had last week demanded the closure of loudspeakers in mosques.

“If this is not stopped, speakers outside mosques will play Hanuman Chalisa at a higher volume,” he had said in Mumbai.

Stating that there is no competition to play Hanuman Chalisa over loudspeakers to counter its use in mosques, and it may lead to conflict between communities, Eshwarappa advised Muslim leaders to see that the speaker is confined to their places of worship. and don’t disturb the people living in the surrounding areas.

Remove loudspeakers from mosques, otherwise Hanuman Chalisa will be played: Raj Thackeray

“The efforts of Raj Thackeray or Shri Ram Sena against the use of loudspeakers in mosques should be done naturally by taking the Muslim community into confidence. There have long been complaints that it disturbs students and patients in the morning and evening hours. Eshwarappa said.

Talking to reporters, he said that the Muslim community has been following the tradition of using loudspeakers for prayers for a long time, but it is troubling the students including their children and patients.

“It is not a competition for us to compete with them for playing Hanuman Chalisa loudly on the speaker. I don’t mind you (Muslims) praying, but because of your use of loudspeakers, if praying in temples and churches too. Similarly, it will give rise to conflict between communities,” he said, adding that in his opinion, it would be good that the leaders of the Muslim community think about it and use speakers inside mosques, in a way it is disturbing. The other doesn’t.
