Byjus: India edtech firm BYJU’S named a sponsor of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022

Indian education technology firm BYJU’S was on Thursday named as the sponsor of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

The Bengaluru-based firm, which provides online education to all age groups, also sponsors the Indian cricket team and said the deal was the first big step in football.

Financial details of the agreement were not announced.

“It is an honor for us to represent India on such a prestigious global platform and to be a champion of the integration of education and sport,” Byju Raveendran, Founder and CEO, Byju, said in a statement.

K Madati, Chief Commercial Officer of FIFA, world football’s governing body, said: “We are delighted to partner with a company like BYJU’S, which is also engaging communities and empowering young people anywhere in the world.”

The deal was announced by FIFA on Tuesday that it has struck a sponsorship deal with Singapore-based Crypto.com for the World Cup, which will take place from November 21 to December 18.
