Burberry hosted a dinner between Frieze Los Angeles on Friday night to celebrate its in-store activation, “Animal Instinct,” on the penthouse terrace of its Rodeo Drive flagship in Beverly Hills.
It was a 40-person event, featuring a young crowd of established and emerging faces in fashion and entertainment in music, television and film; Bella Hadid was; Sidney Lauren Bennett (known as Sid); Jacob Elordi; Lori Harvey; Sami Miro; Ali May; Brent Fayaz; Steve Lacey; Travis Bennett, and Camilla Morrone. Everyone was dressed in a head-to-toe Burberry look, courtesy of the luxury British house.
VIPs posed for photographs in front of the first-floor main installation, a tall, reflective artwork adorned with speakers – an ode to one of the elements featured in Chief Creative Officer Riccardo Tisci’s spring 2022 video presentation. Then they went to the terrace, where a cellist played during dinner. The nightly menu offered a choice of fruit-filled beet salad, vegetarian cauliflower steak or bluefin tuna, followed by a berry mille-feuille dessert, paired with wine.
Those wandering the penthouse discovered Activision’s video display, a screening of a spring 2022 film running on loop. In the clip, Tisci had Burberry models walk through five specific locations: a glowing urban-meets-nature landscape, a cubic room surrounded by flattened trenchcoats, a hall of mirrors adorned with speakers, a hairy-air tunnel and a dark lit rave.
“To me, this presentation really represents the freedom of our imagination: how we dream to come to life,” Tisci revealed in a piece of text shown at the beginning of the film.
