akhilesh yadav: Shivpal dares Akhilesh Yadav to expel him From SP legislature party

Angry Samajwadi leader Shivpal Singh Yadav on Thursday hit out at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav over a remark pointing to his apparent closeness with the ruling BJP and challenged him to be expelled from the SP legislature party. Shivpal Yadav, who is Akhilesh Yadav’s uncle and heads his Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia), had won the recently-held Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections on an SP ticket.

However, he was not invited for the meeting of the SP MLAs soon after the results were out. Since then he has indicated that he may join the Bharatiya Janata Party.

When questioned the speculations, the PSPL leader told reporters, “No decision has been taken on the matter yet. When the right time comes, I will definitely tell everyone about it.”

He objected to Akhilesh Yadav’s remark in Agra on Wednesday in which he had said that whoever meets the BJP will not stay with the SP.

“It is an irresponsible remark. I contested the election on the symbol of Samajwadi Party. If they feel that they need to take a decision immediately, they can expel me from the legislature party,” he said.

Though the SP president did not take names, the remarks came in the backdrop of Shivpal Yadav’s recent meeting with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Shivpal Yadav had formed his own party after a rift with his nephew. But before the 2022 assembly elections, an agreement was reached between the two.

He also rejected Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party chief Om Prakash Rajbhar’s claim that the two are in regular touch and that he is part of the SBSP-led alliance.

“So far, there has been no conversation with him (on this issue). There was a call but there was no conversation. It is possible that he spoke to someone else, whose name is similar to mine,” Yadav said.

Shivpal Yadav has recently indicated a growing friendship with the saffron party. After meeting the CM, he started following him, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former UP Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma on Twitter.

Shivpal Yadav did not attend a meeting of the Samajwadi Party-led opposition alliance, after he was not invited by his nephew to a meeting of newly elected SP MLAs on March 26.

The SP supremo has been mysterious in his remarks on his uncle. Recently, when asked by journalists in Kannauj, Akhilesh Yadav strongly advised them not to waste time on such issues.

Shivpal Yadav has also criticized the treatment meted out to jailed SP leader Azam Khan, whose supporters have accused the Samajwadi Party of ignoring him and the Muslim community.

On Rashtriya Lok Dal President Jayant Choudhary’s meeting with Azam Khan’s wife and son in Rampur on Wednesday, Yadav said that politics is a matter of etiquette and he is also in touch with the family.

He said, “I met him in jail before the election. His health was not good. The treatment being given to him is not right for a big leader like him.”

Shivpal Yadav, younger brother of SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, said, “Such incidents of political vendetta should not happen in politics.”

On the recent dissolution of PSPL units, he said that his party was undergoing post-poll review and restructuring.

He said that it would be rectified after due review.
