10 Chinese Brands Shortlisted for Yu Prize 2022 Edition Final – WWD – Pen 18

london – Ten Chinese designer brands selected from among 20 semifinalists for the 2022 edition of the Yu Awards have been revealed.

The final round entrants are Alienant by Yuchen Han; Take your heart; Did you; Louis Shengtao Chen; Marrakal by Mark Wang and Tim Shea; Ponder.er by Alex Poe and Derek Cheng; Personal Policy by Haoran Li and Siying Qu; Ruhaan by Ruhaan Ni; Yirantian by Yirantian Guo, and Xi II Ci Inn by Zi Chen.

For the final, 10 brands were required to create two looks – one conceptual and one commercial – inspired by “rising aspirations.” They will present their looks along with production samples for in-person evaluation and scoring at a jury presentation on March 15th at The Harrods Residence Shanghai at Middle House.

Li-Ning was announced as a new sponsor for this year’s competition.

The grand prize winner and a few finalists will be selected to develop a capsule collaboration with Li-Ning, which will launch in-store and online later this year.

“We want to make the U Awards as relevant to real life as possible, helping designers build powerful industry connections as well as gain access to commercial opportunities. … I am thrilled that our 10 finalists not only get recognized but also have the opportunity to collaborate with established brands and leading companies like Li-Ning,” Yu said.

This year’s grand prize winner will also receive a cash prize, a location in the Sphere showroom during Paris Fashion Week, a show slot during Shanghai Fashion Week, 12 months of mentorship with the OTB Group, retail support from Harrods, and promotional support. China’s social commerce platform Xiaohongshu, a new sponsor of this edition.

Other awards that will be presented at the awards ceremony and gala dinner during the upcoming Shanghai Fashion Week include the Infinite Beauty Award and the Rising Voice Award.

Two awardees will receive a cash prize of 50,000 renminbi, or $7,870, and a chance to launch a limited-edition capsule with Yumi, the UK luxury beauty brand; and a cash prize of 100,000 renminbi, or $15,684, and the opportunity to collaborate with Ugg, respectively.
